Authorities of Lums Pond State Park have confirmed that a 59-year-old woman died on Wednesday after falling from a zip line ride.
According to the company's website, Go Ape offers a tree-top adventure experience in the form of travel through the forest canopy for 2-3 hours. The woman visited Go Ape Zip Line and Treetop Adventure at Lums Pond State Park in Howell School Road around 1:40 pm on Wednesday when she fell about 40-feet from the zip line ride. Authorities claimed that paramedics had been doing cpr along the journey toward Christiana Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Several helicopters and police agencies were called to the park. They continued the investigation of the incident. Because of the incident, the Zip Line Course is closed for the rest of the day. The park worker looks shaken after the incident.
Chris Swallow, the Director of Go Ape wrote in a released statement. "The Go Ape team is deeply saddened by this tragic occurrence, Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends and in particular to those who were on the course with her at the time. We will of course be cooperating with the authorities with regard to this incident. It would be inappropriate to comment or speculate on the circumstances of this incident until all of the investigations are completed."
