Barack Obama asked his opinion on the Colin Kaepernick's ongoing national anthem protest in a meeting on CNN television on Wednesday. President defends Kaepernick's right to protest and opinion, he stressed that it is important for everyone to listen to each other.
"I want Mr. Kaepernick and others who are on a knee, I want them to listen to the pain that they may cause someone who, for example, had a spouse or a child who was killed in combat, But I also want people to think about the pain that he may be expressing about somebody who has lost a loved one that they think was unfairly shot." Obama said.
The comments were made during the town hall with members of the military in Fort Lee, Virginia. President Obama also spoke about the problems faced by the military and their families. Kaepernick sparked protests by refusing to stand during the national anthem. Since then, several league players also mimics the action of Kaepernick by kneel or even raised his hand during the national anthem.
