Borrowed Time is Pixar's animation with a darker background when compared with other Pixar animation. With duration of less than 6 minutes, this animation showing a main character who wants to commit a suicide. Not only with the concept that weight, the animation is also featuring splashes of blood that was never found in almost all animated films. Borrowed tells about an old sheriff who revisits the site of an accident in which the farther he went, the events at the cliffs revealed that it was indeed involve himself.
Borrowed Time was done by two animators Pixar, Andrew Coats and Lou Hamou-Lhadj in their free time. Considering how the sheer scale of their work in Brave and Inside Out, is a wonder that Coats and Hamou-Lhadj could produce such fantastic work simply by using their remaining time. Coats and Hamou-Lhadj working on this film to challenge the idea that animation genre is just for kids.
Not only that, Coats also want to tamper with the classic western movie style by featuring a cowboy with his emotional side. The result? What is created is a western movie without heroic excessive. By presenting the steady expression and good directing, Borrowed Time really successful presenting emotional story.
