President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino hinted at the possibility of the 2026 World Cup held in North America with number of contestants as many as 40 teams. The last time the World Cup was held in North America is in 1994, where the United States as the host and Brazil came out as the champion. FIFA's President also plans to consider the idea of a World Cup hosted by more than one country as in the 2002 World Cup.
"So, there is, I would say, no limit to whatever is good for football," said Infantino. "We will see, but it's true that CONCACAF did not have the World Cup for a long time." he continued.
"Nothing is definite. I believe in the 40 teams Because I think it is positive for the development of football and we have seen that again at the Euro 2016 in France with eight more teams.
