Bob Dylan Achieve the Nobel Prize in Literature

Singer and songwriter from the United States, Bob Dylan, received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016. The legend of music the 75-year-old received the award for "creating a poetic expression in the tradition of songs in America". The singer who took his name from the poet Dylan Thomas is the first person to receive the Nobel Literature since Toni Morrison received it in 1993.

Sara Danius, secretary of the Nobel Foundation, said Dylan was chosen because it is "a poet in the tradition of English-speaking communities". Bob Dylan was born with the name Robert Allen Zimmerman in 1941 and began his musical career in 1954 by playing music in many coffee houses in Minnesota. Most of his famous work was made in the 1960s and said he could be "informal chronicler" of the America's problems at that time.

Songs like Blowin' in the Wind and The Times They are A-Changin' became the anthem of the anti-war movement activists and civil rights at that period. Since the 1980s, he was consistently on tour that he named as "Never-Ending Tour". This award will be given in conjunction with the five recipients of the Nobel Prize on December 10 which coincided with the anniversary of the death of Alfred Nobel in 1896.
